Speedo Racing Goggles for Club and Competitive Swimmers
When race day comes around, your goggles need to feel secure, comfortable and easy to trust from the dive to the finish. Our Speedo racing goggles range includes popular competition options for club swimmers, competitive swimmers and swimmers racing at higher-level events.
Within the range, you will find the Speedo Fastskin collection and Vanquisher goggles, all World Aquatics-approved for race day use.
Not sure which route to take? Start with our Speedo Fastskin goggles guide if you want to compare Speedsocket 2, Hyper Elite and Pure Focus, or view Vanquisher goggles if you want a simpler racing goggle option.
A good pair of Speedo racing goggles should feel secure, give clear vision and stay in place through the dive, breakout and turns. The right pair depends on the swimmer’s face shape, nose bridge, eye socket and how firm they like the goggle to feel.
At Ness Swimwear, we fit Speedo goggles at major competitive swimming events across the UK, so this guide is based on real race day fitting experience.
Speedo Fastskin Goggles
The Fastskin range is Speedo’s main race-day goggle collection. It includes Speedsocket 2, Hyper Elite and Pure Focus, giving swimmers different choices depending on fit preference, comfort and race level.
Vanquisher goggles are a good option for swimmers who want a reliable racing-style goggle without moving straight into the full Fastskin range. They can be useful for club competitions, training sets and regular race use.
Junior swimmers need goggles that fit their face, not just their age. Some younger swimmers need junior goggles, while others may move into adult racing goggles earlier, depending on head size, face shape and comfort.
For racing, do not choose goggles by colour or style alone. A racing goggle should seal securely without needing to be pulled painfully tight. Check the nose bridge and the pressure around the eye socket before adjusting the strap. If the goggle only feels secure when the strap is very tight, it may not be the right shape for that swimmer.
Speedo Racing Goggles FAQ
What makes goggles suitable for racing?
Racing goggles usually have a lower profile fit, a secure seal and a shape designed to stay in place through starts, turns and high-speed swimming. Comfort still matters, but the fit normally feels more locked in than a soft training goggle.
Do I need Fastskin goggles for every competition?
Not always. Fastskin goggles are Speedo’s main race-day range, but some swimmers are happy racing in Vanquisher or another secure-fitting Speedo goggle. The best choice depends on the swimmer’s level, face shape and how technical they want the goggle to feel.
What is the difference between Fastskin and Vanquisher goggles?
Fastskin goggles are Speedo’s more race-focused collection, with models such as Speedsocket 2, Hyper Elite and Pure Focus. Vanquisher goggles are usually a simpler racing style option and can suit swimmers who want a reliable fit without choosing the most technical race goggle.
Should I choose mirrored or clear lenses for racing?
Mirrored lenses are popular for racing because they can reduce brightness and glare in well-lit pools. They also hide your eyes and provide a mask of confidence on the blocks. Clear or lighter lenses can be useful in darker pool environments. Most swimmers choose based on pool lighting, comfort and personal preference.
How tight should racing goggles feel?
Racing goggles should feel secure, but they should not feel painfully tight before the swim. If the swimmer has to pull the strap very tight to stop leaks, the nose bridge or goggle shape may not be right for their face.
Can children wear adult Speedo racing goggles?
Yes, some children can wear adult Speedo racing goggles if the fit is right. Age is only a guide. The goggle should seal properly, sit comfortably around the eye socket and feel stable without being overtightened.
