Amanzi fit advice before you buy

Our biggest Amanzi fit tip is on the popular Tie Back swimsuit. In our experience, it comes up big, so we usually recommend sizing down one size from your measured chest. If you measure a 30-inch chest, choose an Amanzi Tie Back in size 28.

Our Amanzi Tie Back sizing advice

The popular Amanzi Tie Back swimsuit is big fitting. In our experience, we normally recommend sizing down one from your usual measured chest size. For example, if you measure a 30-inch chest, choose an Amanzi Tie Back in size 28.

The adjustable shoulder straps make the Tie Back perfect for growing girls and swimmers who are taller or shorter in the body. You can tie the straps to fit your own body shape, which is one of the reasons this style is so popular.

The Tie Back is a high-cut swimsuit, and it will show some cheek. We do not recommend sizing up to try to gain more coverage here. The cut will still be high, and a larger size may stretch, move in the water and fit less securely.

Amanzi sizing and fit notes by style

Every Amanzi style fits slightly differently, so it is worth checking the fit notes before choosing your size. This advice is based on our experience fitting swimmers into Amanzi swimwear at events, in our shop and online.

Amanzi style How it fits Our size advice
Amanzi Tie Back Swimsuit The sizing runs large with adjustable shoulder straps and a high-leg cut. We usually recommend sizing down one from the measured chest size. If the swimmer measures a 30-inch chest, choose size 28.
Amanzi Kneelength Swimsuit More coverage through the leg and a more secure feel through the body. Choose close to the swimmer’s chest measurement. True to size, measure up and use the size chart to find your size. The kneesuit is great for anyone looking for extra coverage and a flexible, non-compressive race suit.
Amanzi Proback Swimsuit A classic one-piece shape with fixed straps, an open back and a more traditional training fit. Good for swimmers who prefer a normal one-piece swimsuit with fixed straps rather than a tie-back. Check the chest measurement first.
Amanzi Bikini Top A useful training and a race-day layer, especially under a race suit. Choose by chest measurement and make sure it feels secure enough for swimming, not just standing still. They are tight-fitting, so if you are between sizes, choose the bigger size.
Amanzi Boys Jammers A close-fitting boys training jammer for regular pool use. Use your waist measurement first. Swim jammers should feel snug when dry because they relax slightly once wet. They are true to size and feature a shorter leg than a Funky Trunks jammer.

How to measure before ordering Amanzi swimwear

The most useful measurement for Amanzi girls and ladies swimwear is the chest. Measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping the tape level and comfortable. Do not pull the tape too tight.

For boys jammers, measure around the waist where the jammer will sit. If the swimmer is between sizes, think about how snug they like their swimwear and how often they train.

For growing swimmers, body length matters too. This is where the Amanzi Tie Back can be really helpful because the shoulder straps can be tied to suit a taller or shorter body shape.

Amanzi swimwear questions

Do Amanzi Tie Back swimsuits come up big?

Yes, in our experience the popular Amanzi Tie Back swimsuit comes up big. We normally recommend sizing down one from the measured chest size. If you measure a 30 inch chest, choose an Amanzi Tie Back in size 28.

Should I size up in an Amanzi Tie Back for more coverage?

No, we do not recommend sizing up just to try to gain more coverage. The Tie Back has a high cut and will still sit high. Sizing up can make the suit stretch and feel less secure in the water.

Are Amanzi Tie Backs good for growing girls?

Yes. The adjustable shoulder straps make the Amanzi Tie Back a great option for growing girls because you can tie the straps to suit the swimmer’s body length.

Are Amanzi kneesuits good for swimmers wanting more coverage?

Yes. Amanzi kneelength swimsuits are a better option for swimmers who prefer more coverage through the leg than a standard one piece swimsuit.

Are Amanzi bikini tops useful for race day?

Yes. Amanzi bikini tops are useful under race suits, especially when swimmers want to take their race suit straps down between races.

What is the difference between Amanzi finger paddles and hand paddles?

Amanzi finger paddles are better for catch feel, technique and lower resistance work. Amanzi hand paddles give more resistance and are better for pull sets and strength work.

Are Amanzi mesh bags and goggle cases worth adding?

Yes. Amanzi mesh bags are useful for carrying wet kit, paddles and poolside training gear. Amanzi goggle cases are a simple way to help protect goggles from scratches inside a swim bag.
