About Speedo Fastskin LZR Pure Intent
Choosing a Speedo Fastskin LZR Pure Intent race suit is much easier when you have the right fitting advice. At Ness Swimwear, we work with Speedo at some of the biggest swimming events in the country, as their event retail partner, so we have fitted countless swimmers into Speedo Fastskin LZR Pure Intent jammers and kneeskins. This range is designed for swimmers who like a powerful, compressive fit and want support through starts, turns and sprint racing. If you are unsure about size or fit, our experience can help you choose with more confidence.
Who is the Speedo Fastskin LZR Pure Intent race suit for?
In our experience fitting Speedo Fastskin LZR Pure Intent race suits, this range is best suited to higher-level competitive swimmers who are racing regularly at a regional level or above. We believe Pure Intent works especially well for swimmers racing sprint and power-based events up to around 200m, where a firm, compressive fit can help the swimmer feel supported and locked in on race day.
The Pure Intent is usually a good choice for swimmers who like strong compression through the legs, hips and core. However, it may feel too restrictive for some breaststroke swimmers, or for swimmers who prefer more freedom of movement. In those cases, the Speedo Fastskin LZR Pure Valor may be worth considering instead.

Speedo women's Fastskin Intent kneeskin information
The Speedo Fastskin LZR Pure Intent kneeskin is available in both openback and closedback styles. In our experience, the openback is the regular choice for most swimmers because it offers more flexibility, feels easier to move in, and is usually easier to get on before a race. Speedo also describes the openback as offering greater freedom of movement, which may suit swimmers with arched backs.
The closedback version gives more coverage across the back and can feel even more locked in and compressive. It was originally popular with backstroke swimmers because the higher back helped reduce water entering the suit, but many swimmers now choose it over other strokes when they want the firmest race-day feel. The trade-off is that the closedback can be harder to get on than the openback, so it is usually best for swimmers who are already confident wearing high compression race suits.
Speedo Men's Fastskin Intent Jammers Information
The Speedo Fastskin LZR Pure Intent jammer is available in both regular waist and high waist options. Neither version is designed for a specific stroke, so the best choice usually comes down to fit preference, body shape and how much support the swimmer wants through the waist and core.
In our experience, the regular waist jammer is the more flexible option and is often the easiest choice for swimmers who prefer a traditional race jammer fit. The high waist jammer offers extra coverage and more support around the core, which can help the suit feel more locked in on race day. It is also a strong option for taller male swimmers, especially those over 6ft, as the higher waistband gives roughly an extra inch of coverage compared with the regular waist version.
Need help choosing your Speedo Intent size?
Choosing the right Speedo Fastskin LZR Pure Intent size can feel difficult, especially if you are buying this high compression race suit online. At Ness Swimwear, we have a lot of experience fitting Speedo Fastskin race suits at major swimming events, so you are always welcome to contact us with your swimmer’s measurements for our best sizing advice. We can give you our most accurate estimate without seeing the swimmer, but trying the suit on in person will always be the best way to check the fit.
For women’s Speedo Pure Intent kneeskins, measure the widest part of the bust and the widest part of the hips. Use the larger of those two measurements to find the closest size on the Speedo size chart. As a general guide, most swimmers then choose one size up from that chart size for the Pure Intent.
For men’s Speedo Pure Intent jammers, measure the waist and use the Speedo size chart to find the closest size. Most swimmers will then choose one size up from the chart size. You know your body best, so if you are tall, broad, between sizes, or prefer a little more room to move, you may need to size up further.
If you are unsure, send us your measurements before ordering, and we will help you choose the most suitable size.

Speedo Fastskin LZR Pure Intent FAQ
Is the Speedo Fastskin LZR Intent good for sprint races?
Yes, the Speedo Intent is a strong choice for sprint and power-based swimmers, offering maximum compression and support.
Is the Speedo Fastskin LZR Intent World Aquatics-approved?
Yes, current Speedo Fastskin race suits are approved by World Aquatics and ready for race day.
What's the difference between the Speedo Intent and Valor race suits?
The Valor has medium compression and is suitable for all strokes and distances, while Intent has the highest levels of compression and support but is more restrictive. The intent is aimed at sprinters up to 200m. But levels of compression come down to personal preference, and you can choose to use either for your racing if it is comfortable to you.
Should I choose the open-back or closed-back Pure Intent kneeskin?
This decision comes down to personal preference. If this is your first Intent race suit, we would suggest starting with an openback. It will take more experience before jumping into a closedback, which is more difficult to get into and more restrictive. The closedback was created first for backstroke swimmers, so if that's your stroke, it is worth considering.
Are Speedo pure Intent race suits hard to put on?
Yes, at first. When the suit is brand new, it is at its most compressive and will always take more time to get on. It is best to give yourself plenty of time and not to rush or feel stressed. The suit will loosen with wear, and you will also become more experienced at getting it on. Eventually, you may think it is no longer hard to put on.
Should I choose the regular waist or the high-waist Speedo men's Intent jammers?
This decision comes down to personal preference, but in our experience, the regular waist is suitable for most swimmers. The high waist provides a little bit more coverage and core stability at the cost of reduced flexibility and is a good choice for tall swimmers, who gain an extra inch around the waist.
