How to Choose a Swim Backpack

25L swim backpacks

A 25L swim backpack is a good choice for coaches. It provides water resistance and space for their coach training essentials.

35L swim backpacks

A 35L swim backpack is perfect for younger or smaller swimmers. It still provides enough space for towels, drinks, spare goggles, caps and dry clothes, without being overly large.

45L swim backpacks

A 45L swim backpack is usually best for most club swimmers. It gives you plenty of space for training and race days. This is the go-to size swim backpack with plenty of options from the top swim brands Arena, TYR, Speedo & more.

Backpack or mesh bag?

Use a swim backpack for your main kit and a mesh swim bag for wet training equipment. Mesh bags are better for fins, kickboards, pull buoys and hand paddles because they let water drain away after training.

Swim Backpacks FAQ

What size swim backpack should I buy?

For younger swimmers or lighter sessions, a 35L backpack is usually enough. For regular club swimmers, 45L is a good everyday size. For coaches and parents, a 25L swim backpack is ideal for snacks and coach equipment.

What should I keep in a swim backpack?

Most swimmers use their backpack for swimwear, goggles, caps, a towel, a drinks bottle, snacks, spare clothes and small race day essentials. If you carry wet training equipment, it is worth using a separate mesh bag as well.

Are swim backpacks waterproof?

Most swim backpacks are water-resistant rather than fully waterproof. They are designed for damp changing rooms, wet kit and poolside use.

What is the best swim backpack for club swimmers?

For most club swimmers, a 35L or 45L swim backpack works best. Depending on their size and age.
